Thomas Cully Park
Thomas Cully Park. the first park in Portland built on a landfill
Northwest Infrastructure / O’Neil electric
Completed July 2018
Approximately 1.5 years
Northwest Infrastructure acted as the General Contractor of the firms that worked to bring the $11.3 million project to fruition. Maurice Rahming and Ali O’Neill of O’Neill Construction Group and James Faison of Faison Construction were also heavily involved. All are COBID-certified contractors. “Instead of just one contractor, we kept the spirit of what Verde was doing and included several certified minority companies,” said Martin. “And people in the neighborhood got on board. They were a lot of the labor force that helped with the landscaping and built the community garden.” Building Cully Park had its challenges like all projects. A large challenge was a landfill that was buried under the park with a protective liner that keeps the gases from leaking out. NWI’s crew had to use extra precautions when developing the site work.
