Demolish New Copper Penny and build the foundation and site work for the Oliver Station Apartments.
Running - Almost completed to date (August 2018)
Approximately 2 years
NWI gained the opportunity to demolish a well-known Portland landmark in order to develop a new structure providing low income families affordable living. The demolition phase consisted of tearing down the New Copper Penny building along with an old gas station between 91st and 92nd and Foster. After the buildings were down NWI discovered many underground cesspools and contaminated soil that needed to be dug up before a structure could be formed and built.
This caused delays but the project was completed on time and without any major design changes. Large underground tanks where pumped out and removed followed by excavating the contaminated soil. The new copper penny building was demolished before the removal of underground cesspools & drywells. The excavation and underground utilities work was started on west block apartments.
Excavation work on the new structure started with footings, slab on grade, followed by backfilling and site grading. New utilities consisted of four 25ft deep drywells and new sewer, storm, and water hook ups.
NWI’s Success Is Not Measured by Income, but by the Satisfaction of Our Team and Clients. Our Company’s Foundation Is Built on Integrity, Respect, and the Drive to Exceed Expectations.
